Going into the 2021-2022 season there are a lot of questions in the air with how players might perform. Coming off an interesting 2020 season with all of the covid protocols and new standards for the NFL players are back and ready to show out.
Honorable Mentions: Ben Roethlisberger, Baker Mayfield, Deshaun Watson (kept off list due to off field issues)
#10 – Justin Herbert
Coming off a great rookie season where Herbert posted top 10 in both passing yards and touchdowns in the league, Justin Herbert showed real star potential and with the weapons he is surrounded with I see him only getting better after A great rookie season.
#9 – Matthew Stafford
Matthew Stafford is someone who is well underrated. This mostly because he has been on teams that have not been too successful, but this is his chance to shine. Coming into a new season with a new team, the L.A. Stafford has more weapons then he has ever had and a great head coach calling the plays. This is Stafford’s true test to see if he can be amongst the top qbs in the league, and I see him performing well and posting top 10 numbers.
#8 – Kyler Murray
Kyler Murray is joining the new wave of quarterbacks. Although many thought he may not make it as a qb in the NFL due to his height, that is proving as a non issue as he is one of the fastest quarterbacks in the league and uses his speed to escape the pocket which makes him a danger both throwing and running. The duel-threat Kyler Murray is a nightmare for opposing defenses and will continue to be so for many years as he keeps getting better.
#7 – Dak Prescott
Dak Prescott has a lot to prove this season, and he is ready to do so. Coming off a season where he only played a few games and his season got cut short due to a bad lower leg injury. However, before Dak’s injury he was considered a top tier qb, and I expect him to be back in that conversation following a big comeback season coming up.
#6 – Lamar Jackson
Lamar Jackson has a very unique and different playing style than the other quarterbacks in the NFL. He often gets mocked for “being a running back” due to his speed and play style. However he is much more than that as he has proved over the last few seasons. His rushing numbers are very good for a quarterback as he is the best running QB in the league currently. However, with his leadership and his ability to march the team down the field and put a lot of points up, he makes the Ravens playoff contenders.
Lamars never give up attitude as well as his ability to run and pass and put a lot of point up on the board makes him a top 10 quarterback for this upcoming season, and if he can improve his passing numbers he can continue to climb even higher on that list in the upcoming seasons.
#5 – Josh Allen
Josh Allen took a big leap from the 2019 season to the 2020 season and will look to do so again this upcoming season. However, that will be a tough task to do as he really broke out last season. Throwing for just over 4,500 yards and 37 touchdowns which both ranked 5th amongst quarterbacks last year, Josh Allen proved that he is a franchise quarterback.
Coming off a massive 6 year, 258 million dollar contract extension, Josh Allen has even more to prove that this was not a fluke season and he will continue to prove he is a top qb in the league as the Allen-Diggs duo looks to be one of the best in the league.
#4- Russell Wilson
Russell Wilson is among the league’s smartest quarterbacks. His football IQ has always been great and he continues to work and get better. Wilson has a very strong arm and the thing that makes him special in today’s day and age is his ability to escape the pocket and scramble. His speed and ability to throw on the run is what makes him a top tier quarterback as he is able to make great plays when he has nothing.
Russell Wilson is also a great leader, as he always seems to fire up his team and really seems to always have that fiery competitive edge every time he steps on that field. Wilson is still among the leagues top quarterbacks and will continue to prove that this season.
#3 – Aaron Rodgers
This was a scary offseason for the Green Bay Packers as their star quarterback, Aaron Rodgers was contemplating retirement and wanted to leave the Packers organization. However, after a long wait the Packers announced Aaron Rodgers will be returning for this season.
Rodgers has had an extremely successful career, although only one super bowl to show for it, Rodgers has been a top tier quarterback for years now and will continue to do so as long as he’s got weapons like Devante Adams on his side.
#2 – Tom Brady
Tom Brady just continues to amaze and surprise people. Going into his 22nd season this year and he seems to still have something to prove. Coming off his 7th super bowl victory more and more cementing him as the greatest quarterback of all time, Brady continues to prove that greats don’t age like the rest of them.
Last season was Brady’s first season not playing for New England and the dynamic duo with coach Bill Billicheick. Many were skeptical on how the Buccaneers would do, but Brady went on to silence the haters and led the Bucs to their second super bowl victory, and first one since 2003.
Many people try to write Brady off because he is getting older, but one thing I learned is to never count out the G.O.A.T. Brady is still amongst the best quarterbacks in the league.
#1 – Patrick Mahomes
Patrick Mahomes seems to be near a different level since he entered the league in 2017, and he is just getting started. Winning a league MVP in his second season in 2018 followed by a super bowl victory in the 2019-2020 season also marking Mahomes as the youngest player to win super bowl MVP.
Mahomes has some scary weapons on the offense as well. The speedster Tyreek Hill rarely fails to create separations from the defender due to his blazing speed and he and Mahomes created an instant connection since Mahomes has been in the league. On top of that Travis Kelce, one of the league’s elite tight ends is always a weapon as he and Mahomes have a special connection as well.
Mahomes is an elite QB in the NFL and he is the top ranked going into the 2021-2022 season.
